What is the CEM?

The Centre for Embryo Medicine is a genetics centre dedicated to support assisted reproduction centres both nationally and internationally.

The CEM is staffed by a multidisciplinary team including geneticists, embryologists, andrologists, and gynaecologists. It was founded in 2006, as a result of the increasing need in Spain for a centre of reference for the investigation and application of the new techniques of Embryonic Preimplantation Genetic Diagnosis (DGPI) and genetic diagnosis of masculine infertility.

Out main objective is to carry out the genetic studies necessary in an in-vitro fertilisation cycle:

  • In cases of hereditary monogenic diseases

Genetic study of male infertility

  • Sperm FISH
  • DNA fragmentation
  • Meiosis in testicular biopsy
